Parking lot line striping services

Short answer: A1 Paving provides parking lot line striping in Polk City, Lakeland and across Polk County, as well as Orlando. Services include new lot layouts, restriping, accessible (ADA) stalls and signs, fire lanes, arrows and crosswalks, thermoplastic and paint markings, and curb painting. Clear, bright lines show drivers where to park, which way to go, and where to watch for people on foot. Faded striping makes a lot feel neglected and harder to use. Fresh paint fixes both.

Professional parking striping is usually the finishing step on a paving or sealcoating job, and it's also a quick refresh for a lot whose lines have simply worn away. Call (407) 966-5164 or request a free striping estimate.

Why parking lot striping matters

  • Traffic flow. Arrows and lane lines keep cars moving in one direction and cut down on confusing standoffs.
  • Safety. Crosswalks, stop bars and no-parking areas mark where drivers should slow down and where pedestrians cross.
  • Capacity. A clear stall layout helps drivers park evenly instead of taking up one and a half spaces.
  • Accessibility. Accessible parking spaces and access aisles need clear markings to work as intended.
  • First impressions. For customers, tenants and visitors, crisp lines signal a well-kept property.

New parking lot layout

A freshly paved or fully resurfaced lot starts as a blank surface. Before any paint goes down, someone has to decide how many stalls fit, which direction traffic flows, where accessible spaces go, and how fire lanes, entrances and walkways connect. A1 Paving lays out new lots and stripes them once the pavement is ready. Local codes and permit conditions often set requirements for stall sizes, aisle widths and accessible parking, so lay out a new lot with your site plan and your city or county requirements in hand.

Restriping faded lines

Paint wears down under traffic, sun and rain, and Florida's strong sun and frequent storms take a toll. A1 Paving restripes existing lots. Restriping means repainting over the existing layout so the lines are bright and readable again. It's also a chance to correct a layout that no longer works, such as stalls that are too tight or traffic patterns that changed when a building's entrance moved.

How often a lot needs restriping depends on traffic, paint type and weather. Busy retail lots fade faster than a lightly used office lot. A practical approach is to inspect the lot at least once a year and restripe when lines are hard to see in rain or at night. Our commercial parking lot maintenance plan shows how striping fits into regular upkeep.

ADA parking stalls and signs

A1 Paving stripes accessible parking stalls, access aisles and symbols, and provides accessible parking signs. Two sets of rules apply. Under the federal 2010 ADA Standards, sections 208 and 502, a standard accessible car space is at least 96 inches wide with an adjacent access aisle at least 60 inches wide. A van-accessible space is either 132 inches wide with a 60-inch aisle, or 96 inches wide with a 96-inch aisle (section 502.2). The federal standards also set how many accessible spaces a lot needs based on its size (section 208). Florida's requirements are stricter. Under Florida Statutes s. 553.5041, each accessible parking space must be at least 12 feet wide, access aisles must be at least 5 feet wide and striped diagonally as no-parking zones, spaces must be outlined in blue paint, and each space needs a permanent sign with the caption "PARKING BY DISABLED PERMIT ONLY." Local codes may add more, so confirm requirements for your property before laying out or changing accessible spaces. This page gives general information only.

Fire lanes, arrows and crosswalks

A1 Paving paints fire lanes, directional arrows and crosswalks, the markings that keep a lot safe and orderly. Fire-lane requirements usually come from the local fire authority, so check with your city or county fire marshal about the required color, wording and placement.

Thermoplastic or paint markings?

Traffic paint is quick and economical to apply and refresh, and it's the usual choice for parking stalls. Thermoplastic is heated and applied as a thicker layer that usually lasts longer under heavy traffic, at a higher upfront cost. A1 Paving applies both and can recommend which fits each part of your lot.

Curb painting

A1 Paving also paints curbs. Painted curbs can mark fire lanes, loading zones or no-parking areas, and help drivers see curbs at night. Curb colors and wording for fire lanes are often set by local rules, so confirm them with your local authority before painting.

Striping after paving or sealcoating

New asphalt and fresh sealcoat both need to cure before paint goes down, or the lines can bleed or fail to bond. That's why striping is scheduled as the final step of a paving or sealcoating job. When A1 Paving sealcoats a lot, it can stripe it afterward, so one company handles the whole job. If your lot also needs crack repair or sealcoating, it usually makes sense to do that work first and stripe last. See Sealing & Patching, asphalt repair options and resurfacing vs. replacement.

Frequently asked questions

How often should a parking lot be restriped?

It depends on traffic, paint type and weather. Inspect the lot at least once a year and restripe when the lines fade or are hard to see in rain or at night.

What's the difference between thermoplastic and paint striping?

A1 Paving offers both: paint is quick and economical to refresh, while thermoplastic is thicker and usually lasts longer under heavy traffic. See the thermoplastic markings guide.

How wide are parking lot stripes, and what size is a standard space?

Line width and stall size are set by your local code and the property's approved site plan, so check both before laying out or changing a lot.

Do you stripe ADA accessible spaces and install signs, and what are the requirements?

Yes. A1 Paving stripes accessible stalls, access aisles and symbols, and provides signs. In Florida, state law requires accessible spaces at least 12 feet wide with access aisles at least 5 feet wide, outlined in blue with a permanent sign (Florida Statutes s. 553.5041). The federal 2010 ADA Standards also set van-space and space-count rules. Local codes may add more.

Can a lot be striped right after sealcoating or paving?

Not immediately. A1 Paving stripes after its own sealcoating and paving work once the surface is ready. The sealcoat or new asphalt needs time to cure first, and cars should stay off fresh paint until it dries. Your contractor will set the timing based on the products used and the weather.

What does "restriping a parking lot" mean?

Restriping means repainting the existing lines so they're bright and visible again. It can also be a chance to update the layout.
